Maryland Fragile X Golf Classic

The Maryland Fragile X Resource Group was proud to present the Second Maryland Fragile X Golf Classic with honorary chairman and local PGA favorite Fred Funk!    The event was held on June 6, 2005 at the beautiful Tournament Players Club at Avenel course located in Potomac, Maryland.  Registration is open to corporate and individual sponsors and includes greens fees, cart, lunch, dinner and prizes. All proceeds from the tournament will be used to fund research and promote awareness of Fragile X Syndrome, the #1 cause of inherited mental impairment. 

Fred Funk - Honorary Chairman Former University of Maryland golf coach Fred Funk has become one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour.  Fred was selected to represent the United States last year as part of the U.s. Ryder Cup Team.  Fragile X was the recipient of a generous donation in Fred's honor through the USA Ryder Cup Team.  In 2003 Fred also represnted the U.S. in the Presidents Cup Team.  Fred has collected 6 PGA Tour victories since turning pro in 1981 and continues to lead the tour in driving accuracy. Join Fred for an outstanding day of golf TPC Avenel to raise money to find a treatment and cure for Fragile X Syndrome.  You will have an opportunity to tee off against Fred and a chance to participate in a private golf clinic taught by the local pro - Funk himself.
